About

Lisa A. Peluso is an innovative and experienced academic professional and former elementary school teacher committed to fostering collaboration and diversity in classrooms through the use of research-based strategies, social-emotional learning practices, and social justice principles. She is multi-lingual and began her career in the field of education teaching English as a Second Language. After a brief period serving as a Learning and Development Manager for an international foreign exchange company, she obtained her New York State teaching licenses and taught grades four and five in a culturally diverse Catholic elementary school in New York City for over a decade. Prior to, and currently, as an Assistant Professor, she collaborates with future educators to shape and promote highly effective and nurturing practitioners. She has presented at numerous conferences and has provided professional development for educators in a multitude of topics ranging from data-guided instruction, to promoting "social-emotional justice" in classrooms and schools. She is committed to social justice in education, particularly as it pertains to gender, socio-economically disadvantaged students, the linguistically diverse, and the equitable treatment of educators.
