Abstract

The annual meeting of the International Police Executive Symposium in Budapest, Hungary was attended by 110 police leaders, scholars, and practitioners. About half were academics. The attendees represented an astounding 40 countries. One of the reasons these meetings are special is because everyone attends events – scholarship or cultural together. Scholarship involves paper presentations, roundtables, and exchanging ideas for books and other scientific endeavors. Other than scholarship, these meetings provide excellent opportunities for networking, stimulating intellectual discussion, cultural exchanges, and collaboration among researchers and practitioners in ways that are not seen at any other meetings in the world.
