Abstract
Using the teaching strategy of project-based learning in higher education classrooms can result in deeper level learning and increased student engagement in the course content. This session will explain how to design a semester-long project that encompasses the major learning outcomes of the course taking into consideration the Gold Standard of Project Design, a research-informed model from the Buck Institute for Education. An example of successful use of PBL in a teacher education program and the research studies to support its use will be shared with participants. Reflection on the content and active participant engagement will be a focus of the session.
