My name is Loren Dempsey, DNP, RN, PPCNP-BC, AE-C. I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and I practice at the NYU Langone Hempstead High School-Based Health Clinic and I am an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Hagan School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Molloy University, Rockville Centre. I teach community and public health nursing to senior nursing students and advise the MNSA Lung Force Team. At NYU Langone Health I provide clinical care and lead my department's quality improvement projects.
I am a long time supporter for the American Lung Association (ALA) NYS Asthma initiative, Project BREATHE. This interdisciplinary coalition is dedicated to providing evidence-based education for individuals and community groups with a goals of reducing risk for asthma exacerbation, and improving life quality for persons living with COPD and asthma. In 2023 this partnership was extended to the Molloy Campus with the creation of Molloy Student Nurse Association Lung Force. To date, more than one hundred SONHS students have been trained to use evidence-based ALA asthma tools when providing education in the community. I am excited to see the students at work in the community and look forward to expanding this initiative in the future!
