Catholic school superintendency: Trends over time.

Producción científica: Presentation

Resumen

In light of drastic reduction of religious in education, the profile of the Catholic superintendency needs to be reassessed. This study investigated the trends reported by 131 superintendents in year 2005 and followed up with 89 participants in 2015. The results showed increased numbers of female lay and married superintendents, with a dramatic decrease of religious. More than a third of participants held doctoral degrees, but less than half were completed in the Catholic institutions. Superintendents worked over 55 hours a week; mostly without contract and limited benefits. The job satisfaction was related to a sense of vocation and receiving support from colleagues, while stress factors included scope of the job, personnel and local pastors’ issues.
