Storming, Reforming, Norming, And Transforming Assessments Using Deconstructed Rubrics

Following CAEP’s new requirements for rubric development, the Division of Education at Molloy College began the journey of deconstructing existing rubrics with the guidelines provided by Chalk&Wire.  As a result, a cycle of rubric development was established: a) storming the old ways of assessing teacher candidates and fully engaging faculty in the process, b) reforming the criteria and performance levels of the rubrics, c) norming the rubrics by unifying the language in accordance with the CAEP, InTASC, and SPA standards, and d) continuously transforming the rubrics to meet the needs of the teacher education programs and benchmark assignments with the addition of the proactive comments.
